Women’s Basketball Set To Close Non-Conference Schedule Against SUNY Old Westbury

Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner women's basketball team will finish its non-conference schedule on Monday, December 30 against SUNY Old Westbury at the Spiro Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 2:00 PM.

The Series

The matchup marks the first meeting all time between the two squads.

Scouting SUNY Old Westbury

The Panthers are 0-10 overall and 0-6 in Skyline Conference play. They most recently fell to SUNY Purchase 66-65 on December 13.

Freshman guard Jailha Pineda leads the team in scoring (18.4), assists per game (4.7) and minutes per game (40.0). Pineda is averaging 30.5 ppg over her last two games.

Junior guard Malaura Olivier leads the team with 9.1 rebounds per game. Olivier scored 13 points and snagged 24 rebounds in her last game against SUNY Purchase.

Welcome Back Taleah

After missing the first 10 games of the season, Taleah Washington made her season debut on December 21 against Columbia. The graduate student scored 15 points and recorded seven assist in 33 minutes including a perfect 5-of-5 13 point first quarter.

Fabozzi Continues To Impress

The Staten Island native scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds against NJIT. Fabozzi scored the go-ahead basket against NJIT to seal the game with 1.8 remaining. The graduate student is averaging 17 points per game over her last four games. Fabozzi is 3rd in the NEC in points per game (14.0). Fabozzi returns after playing seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury.

The Emergence Of Keana Foz 

Keana Foz is averaging 11 points over her last three games. Foz holds the top spot in the NEC in steals per game (2.2). Along with being first in the conference in steals, Foz ranks 7th in assists per game (2.7), and 17th in rebounds per game (3.8). Earlier this season, Foz was named the NEC's Rookie of the Week. In two games, she averaged 12 points per game, 3.5 assists and 3 rebounds. Foz was also named to the 2024 FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.

Seahawks Amongst The NEC

Wagner ranks second in the NEC blocks per game (3.4) and sits fifth in the conference in overall record.

What's Next

The Seahawks begin NEC play against Chicago State on Thursday, January 2 at 7 PM at Jones Convocation Center in Chicago, IL.
