Women’s Basketball Welcomes Columbia On Saturday

Staten Island, NY -  The Wagner women's basketball team will host Columbia at the Spiro Sports Center on Saturday, December 21 at 12:00 PM.

The Series

The matchup marks the seventeenth meeting all-time between the two squads Wagner leads the all-time series 9-7 but Columbia won the last matchup, 79-50 on December 12, 2023 in New York, NY.

Scouting Columbia

The Lions are 7-4 overall, most recently falling to RV Richmond 85-76 Sophomore guard Riley Weiss leads Rutgers in scoring (17.3). Weiss scored a season-high 25 against Providence and is averaging 19 points over her last three games. Senior guard Kitty Henderson is second in scoring (15.6) and leads the team in assists (4.8).

Fabozzi Continues To Impress

The Staten Island native scored 18 points while knocking down three three-pointers last game against Rutgers. Fabozzi scored a career-high 23 points and grabbed nine rebounds against NJIT. Fabozzi scored the go-ahead basket against NJIT to seal the game with 1.8 remaining. The graduate student is averaging 19 points per game over her last three games. Fabozzi is third in the NEC in points per game (14.3) and seventh in rebounds per game (6.1). Fabozzi returns after playing seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury.

The Emergence Of Keana Foz 

Keana Foz was named the NEC's Rookie of the Week last week. In two games she averaged 12 points, 3.5 assists and 3 rebounds Keana Foz holds the top spot in the NEC in steals per game (2.2). Along with being first in the conference in steals, Foz ranks fifth in assists per game (2.9), and 17th in rebounds per game (4.0). Earlier this season, Foz was named to the 2024 FIU Thanksgiving Classic All-Tournament Team.

Kaci From Downtown

Redshirt sophomore Klea Kaci has made two or more three-pointers in 5 games this season.

Seahawks Amongst The NEC

Wagner is fourth in the conference with a three-point success rate of 30.3 %, making 59 of 195 attempts The Seahawks are third in the NEC in rebounds per game (34.2) Wagner ranks second in the NEC blocks per game (3.8).
