Miami, FL - The Wagner women's basketball team will compete against the Sacramento State Hornets on December 1 at 11:00 am to wrap up the FIU Thanksgiving Classic.
Most recently, the Seahawks suffered a 87-52 loss to FIU on day one of the Classic.
Block Party
The Seahawks lead the conference in total blocks (24) and blocks per game (4.0). Graduate student Julia Fabozzi and sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor own the top two spots in blocks per game in the NEC. Modesayor averages 1.3 blocks per game as Fabozzi averages 1.0. Shamique Cummings and Hawa Balde-Camara are tied for eighth in the circuit with 0.5 blocks per game.
Fabozzi Continues To Impress
Graduate student Julia Fabozzi is fourth in the NEC in points per game with 14.3. The Staten Island native earned NEC Prime Performer honors with 21 points against Northeastern. Fabozzi became the ninth Seahawk in program history to make 12 free throws in a game against the Huskies. In the season opener, Fabozzi set a career-high in points with 22. Fabozzi has scored at least 12 points in three straight games. Fabozzi returns after playing seven games last season after missing most of the year with a knee injury.
The Emergence Of Keana Foz
Against FIU, freshman Keana Foz scored nine points while adding five rebounds, four assists, and four steals. Foz holds the top spot in steals per game in the conference (2.3). Foz has recorded at least three steals in four games this season. Foz became the first Seahawk to score seven points, grab 10 rebounds, and dish out five assists in a game since Zhaneia Thybulle on February 11, 2023 against LIU. Along with being first in the conference in steals, Foz ranks fifth in assists per game (3.3), and 16th in rebounds per game (4.0).
Seahawks Amongst The NEC
Wagner is third in the conference with a three-point success rate of 34.2%, making 38 of 111 attempts. The Seahawks connect on 6.3 three-pointers per game, good for fourth in the NEC. With 6.83 steals per game, the Green & White rank third in the circuit in that category. Wagner is fourth in combined team rebounds with 33.8 per game.
Scouting Sacramento State
The Hornets are 4-3 on the season, most recently falling to Abilene Christian, 75-53. Sophomore guard Lina Falk leads Sacramento State with 13.0 points per game. Redshirt junior guard Benthe Versteeg averages a team-high 5.4 rebounds and 4.6 assists to go along with 8.0 points per contest.
The Series
The Wager Seahawks and Sacramento State Hornets have never faced-off before. Sunday's game marks the first contest between these two programs.
