Women's Basketball Set To Host Northeastern On Friday

The Wagner College women's basketball team will host the Northeastern Huskies on Friday, November 22 at the Spiro Sports Center. Tip-off is set for 7:00 pm.
 

The Return Of Fabozzi

In the season opener, graduate student Julia Fabozzi set a career-high in points with 22

Fabozzi set a new career-high in made three pointers with five against Saint Elizabeth, eclipsing her mark of three set against LIU on January 8, 2023. The Staten Island native produced nine points with five rebounds and four assists against Seton Hall. Fabozzi is averaging 13.0 points, 5.3 rebounds, and 2.0 assists per game after only playing seven games last season because of a knee injury.
 

The Emergence Of Angelie Ricard 

Junior Angelie Ricard set new career bests in points scored, three-pointers made, and tied her career-high in rebounds against Saint Elizabeth. In 21 minutes of action, Ricard scored 21 points on five three pointers and corralled five rebounds in the win. Against Seton Hall, Ricard led Wagner with 10 points. Ricard is averaging 11.3 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.3 assists per game.
 

The Supporting Cast 

Graduate student Raneem ElBarky scored eight points, all in the third quarter, and collected six rebounds in 18 minutes. ElBarky also tallied four points with five rebounds and one block at Seton Hall and six points with five rebounds at Navy.

Sophomore guard Klea Kaci led the Seahawks with three three-pointers against Navy. With a success rate of 50.0% from three, Kaci leads the NEC in that category.

Sophomore Lijirin Doyinsola Modesayor also ranks first in the conference in blocks per game with 1.3. Modesayor has blocked four shots in 49 minutes of action.

Freshman point guard Keana Foz ranks sixth in the conference in assists per game with three.

Wagner has three individuals ranked in the top 12 in rebounds per game in the NEC (ElBarky, Fabozzi, and Doyinsola Modesayor).
 

Wagner In The National Rankings

The Seahawks rank 91st nationally in offensive rebounds per game with 14. Wagner's 36.7% success from beyond-the-arc ranks the Seahawks 101st nationally, and first in the conference.
 

Seahawks Among The NEC

At 40 rebounds per game, Wagner leads all other Northeast Conference teams in that category. The Seahawks average the third most three-pointers per game in the NEC with 7.3. The Seahawks produce the most bench points in the circuit, averaging 24 points per game from their bench. The Green & White also lead the NEC in blocks per game with two. Wagner holds teams to a 23.8% success rate from beyond-the-arc, second-best in the conference.
 

Scouting Northeastern

Northeastern is led by redshirt sophomore Abby Jegede who averages 13.0 points and 3.5 rebounds per game. Sophomore Yirsy Queliz and freshman Taylor Holohan average 9.0 and 5.5 points per game, respectively.
 

The Series

Northeastern and Wagner met for the first time last season on November 21. The Huskies came away with a 63-46 win at the Cabot Center in Boston.
 

What's Next

After their matchup with the Huskies, the Seahawks will travel to New Rochelle for a contest against Iona. Wagner and Iona will faceoff on Tuesday, November 26 at 6:00 pm.
