Pittsburgh, PA - The Wagner College football team fell in a Northeast Conference (NEC) clash at Duquesne by a score of 35-21 on Saturday afternoon at Rooney Field.

With the loss, the Seahawks' fall to 4-7, with a conference mark of 2-3. The Dukes jump to 8-2 on the year with an undefeated 5-0 record in conference play.

The Green & White struck first when senior Rickey Spruill found a wide-open sophomore Teree McDonald for an 80-yard touchdown off of a trick play with just over four minutes remaining in the first quarter.

Duquesne answered and took a 21-7 lead at the midway mark.

In the second half, sophomore Sekou Kamau scored on a 47-yard touchdown scamper midway through the third, getting the Seahawks back into striking distance. 

Next up, junior Sam Martin grabbed his first interception of the season, setting up a 25-yard strike to sophomore Jaylen Bonelli from graduate student Jake Cady just before the quarter ended, but it wasn't enough, as Duquesne held on for the victory.

Cady threw for 196 yards on a 21-37 completion clip, Bonelli and graduate student Mark Didio Jr both had seven receptions while MacDonald finished the game with two catches for a team-high 94 yards.

On the ground, Kamau and Cady led the Seahawks with 46 yards each totalling 137 yards a team.

Defensively, Martin, graduate student Justin Reily, and graduate student Jalin Justice recorded seven tackles each to lead Wagner. Senior Christian Davis had his team-leading fourth interception to go along with Sam Martin. 

Next up, Wagner will conclude its 2024 regular season the Seahawks welcome the LIU Sharks on Saturday, November 23 at noon on Hameline Field.
