Women’s Tennis Secures First Fall Win At Home Against Holy Cross

Queens, NY - The Wagner College women's tennis team earned its first win of the fall season over Holy Cross on Saturday at the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center in Queens.

In singles play, the Green and White took all six matches in commanding fashion. All six of the matches were decided in the first two sets.

Despite a dominant doubles win (6-2) out of graduate student Daniela Hernandez and freshman Victoria Madail, the Seahawks dropped the doubles point to open their first home match.

Following their doubles win together, Hernandez and Madail made quick work of their singles opponents each only losing three games en route to decisive victories.

Freshman Liepa Sataite also won her second straight match playing out of the #1 spot for the Green and White by a final score of 6-3, 6-2.

Rounding out the Seahawks' six straight victories were sophomore Dariana Vera (6-2, 6-2), junior Jasmine Lin (7-5, 6-1), and senior Paula Ysabelle Uy (6-2, 7-5).

Next up, the Seahawks are set to compete at the ITA Regional Tournament beginning October 10 in Philadelphia, with a chance to qualify for ITA Sectionals at the commencement of the fall season.
