Kenilworth, NJ - The Wagner College men's golf team defeated the Peacocks of St. Peter's University in a matchplay event at Galloping Hill Country Club in Kenilworth, NJ on Monday, October 21. 

The match marked the first time since March 30, 2023 that the Seahawks participated in a matchplay-style event, and the first time since April 24, 2022 that Wagner came out victorious in an matchplay-style event. 

Eight players from each team took part, with the Seahawks taking four of the matches outright, dropping two, and halving two, leading to a 5-3 day overall. 

The Green & White were led by sophomore Chris Solari, who won his match by six holes. Junior Javier Gonzalez Diaz, graduate student Thomas Choi, and senior Michael Foley won their matches by five, four, and three holes, respectively.

Junior Alavid Melo Iturralde and freshman Emilio Zapiain halved their contests, totaling one extra win and loss for the Seahawks. The losses were credited to Johnny Svalina and freshman Daniel Cassidy.

To conclude their fall season, the Seahawks will host the Metropolitan Intercollegiate Tournament next week on Monday, October 28th and Tuesday, October 29th at Montclair Golf Club in Montclair, NJ.
