Staten Island, NY - Senior goalkeeper Sam Hughes earned back-to-back NEC Defensive Player of the Week, the conference announced Monday.

The Pottstown, PA native earned the honor after holding two shutouts this week against Howard and Saint Francis U. 

Against Howard on Thursday, Hughes faced eight shots tallying three saves in a 0-0 draw. On Sunday against Saint Francis U, Hughes faced seven shots while recording six saves in a 1-0 win.

On the season, the senior has tallied seven clean sheets and is up to 18 in her career and in the month of October Hughes has allowed just two scores.

This is Hughes' fourth career NEC Defensive Player of the Week honor.

Freshman forward Alana Arjona also received NEC Prime Performance honors for her game winning goal performance against Saint Francis U. 

Wagner will host Le Moyne at Hameline Field on Thursday, October 24 at 7pm.
