Charlotte Muller Scores Two Goals In Overtime Victory Against Stonehill

Staten Island, NY - Wagner College sophomore midfielder Charlotte Muller scored her sixth and seventh goals of the season against Stonehill on Friday afternoon.

Charlotte Muller scored the Seahawks' first and third goals of the contest. Graduate student Cami Valor found Muller in front of the cage just four minutes into the game to get the ball rolling for Wagner.

After Stonehill tied the game in the second, the Seahawks found themselves trailing 2-1 in the third as a long shot was tipped-in by Stonehill's Karleigh Mirabile. 

With four minutes remaining in the game. Sophomore Floortje Leunisse rebounded a sophomore Matilda Heisel shot to even the score at two a piece as the Seahawks played one-man up with an empty net. 

In the overtime period, Wagner capitalized on its first corner opportunity just one minute into the frame. Sophomore Pilar Lorenzini put her game's second shot on target which was followed by a rebound goal from Muller, who was standing in front of the left side of the cage to grant the Seahawks their fourth conference win of the year.

In net, current Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week Saar van Dalen played the entirety of the match for the Green & White, besides missing three and half minutes from being pulled in Wagner's comeback efforts. 

The Houten, Netherlands native rejected six shots, bringing her season total to 61 saves and an 8-5 record.

As a team, the Seahawks took 15 shots, with 10 on target, while earning 13 corner opportunities. For Stonehill, the Skyhawks put up 12 shots, eight on target, while earning seven corner opportunities.

This match marks the third straight in which Wagner has gone to an overtime period to determine a winner. The Seahawks dropped a 2-1 match against Temple on Sunday, October 6 before defeating Sacred Heart, 2-1, on Friday, October 11.

Overall, the Green & White currently possess a record of 8-5, with a conference mark of 4-1, are 3-1 in games that go into overtime, and have won six out of their seven home games.

The Seahawks have scored half of their goals in the fourth quarter and overtime of games.

Next up, Wagner will take on Saint Francis U on Sunday, October 20 at the Wagner College Field Hockey Complex. Opening pass-back for that game is set for noon.

The Seahawks will honor six special athletes after the contest for their 'Senior Day'.
