Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College football team fell 24-6 against Ivy League member Columbia on Saturday at sun-splashed Hameline Field.
Sophomore wide receiver
Jaylen Bonelli once again led the Seahawks with 11 catches for 114 yards and scored Wagner's lone touchdown of the afternoon on a 20-yard reception from graduate student quarterback
Jake Cady with 1:28 to play in the second quarter.
The Lions took a 14-0 lead in the first quarter and scored 10 points in the second quarter to earn the victory, as neither team got on the board in the second half.
Cady finished the day with 207 yards through the air on 25-39 accuracy while also leading the Green and White with 43 yards on the ground.
Defensively, junior
Jorel Liverpool led the Green and White with 10 tackles, including 1.5 tackles for loss and a sack.
With the loss, Wagner falls to 3-4 on the season, while the Lions improve to 3-1 on the year.
Next up, Wagner will resume Northeast Conference (NEC) action on Saturday, October 19 against Saint Francis U, with kickoff set for noon.
