Stratford, NJ - The Wagner women's bowling team participated at the New Jersey Open from Friday, January 26 to Sunday, January 28 in Stratford, NJ, hosted at the 30 Strikes Lanes.
Overall, the Seahawks won six of their ten matches over the weekend, highlighted with a 984 score during the first Baker-style scoring match. The Green & White would finish the tournament tied for sixth place, out of ten competing teams.
Wagner's best traditional scoring match occurred during their third game, finishing with a 897 team score.Â
After five Baker-style scoring and five traditional matches, the Green & White knocked over 4,281 pins in Baker-style scoring, meanwhile, they knocked over 4,332 pins during traditional play. In total, the Seahawks finished the first-two days with a total pinfall of 8,623, for a game average of 172.5.
In the playoff bracket, the Seahawks entered as the seventh-seed, and defeated eighth-seeded New Jersey City University in the first round, before dropping the next round to Kutztown University in four rounds.Â
Wagner would then again defeat NJCU, in seven rounds, to earn seventh place at the 2024 New Jersey Open
Individually, sophomore Angelia Lubrano averaged the sixth-highest average pinfall per game during, out of 63 competitors. During traditional play, the transfer from St. Francis Brooklyn scored 190.0 per game, producing a 212 score during the third game.Â
Senior Totiana Miranda and sophomore Samantha McDermott would place 12th and 15th, respectively. Across the five traditional matches, Miranda averaged a total pinfall of 186.4 and McDermott averaged one of 180.0.
Next up, the Seahawks will travel to Philadelphia, PA at the Griffin Baker Invite, hosted Chestnut Hill College from Saturday, February 3 to Sunday, February 4.
