MOUNT JOY, Pa. — The Wagner women's bowling team finished the Mount Shootout at Clearview Lanes on Sunday with three individual wins throughout the event.
Despite the Seahawks' last-place finish, sophomore Rebekah Newman showed out. In Baker-match play on Friday and Sunday, Newman averaged 15.65 pins per frame, with 24 strikes and 20 spares.
During Traditional play on Saturday, Newman rolled for an average score of 162.2, collecting 13 strikes and 21 spares, and picked up wins in game one (153) and game four (169).
Freshman Morgan Traver also had herself a good tournament, picking up the third of Wagner's three individual wins by rolling a 170 in game one, then rolling another 170 in game five. Throughout the rest of Traditional play, Traver averaged 162.2 pins, knocking down 15 strikes and 20 spares.
In Baker-match play, Traver averaged the highest pin-per-frame rate on the team at 17.42, and picked up a team-leading 29 strikes along with 20 spares. Newman's and Traver's Traditional averages placed them tied for 48th place among all the bowlers at the event.
The Seahawks will return to the lanes on Friday and participate in NEC Meet #2 at the Steel City Bowl and Brews in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. First roll is set for 10 a.m. EST.
