This Week In Wagner Athletics; Seven Teams In Action As Three Teams Resume Competition

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.

Men's Basketball
- Following Monday's game against Stonehill, the Seahawks will travel to Merrimack and Sacred Heart on Thursday and Saturday, respectively.  
- Wagner is 1-1 in NEC play entering the week
- Junior Tahron Allen earned NEC Prime Performer honors last week.

Women's Basketball
- The Seahawks will travel to North Easton, MA to take on Stonehill on Monday, January 15, tip-off is scheduled for 2:00 pm.
- Wagner will then begin a three-game home stand with Merrimack coming to the Spiro Sports Center on Friday, January 19, tip-off is scheduled for 12:00 pm. The Seahawks will then host Sacred Heart on Sunday, January 21 at 4:00 pm.
- Wagner enters the week with a 4-10 overall record and a 1-1 record in NEC play. The Seahawks picked up their first NEC victory of the season with a 75-66 win over LIU on Monday, January 8.
- Graduate student Taleah Washington led the way offensively for Wagner with 29 points on 8-11 shooting from the field and 5-6 shooting from three-point range.

Women's Water Polo
- The Seahawks will open the 2024 season at the ASU Invitational.

Fencing
- The Seahawks will return to action after a two month hiatus at the Philadelphia Invitational on Saturday, January 20. Freshman Flavio Vinci's 47 wins and sophomore Fanny Straub's 41 pace the men and women, respectively, as the two teams gear up for the second half of the schedule.

Women's Bowling
 -Wagner will return after a short break in competition as they travel to Fairfield, CT for the Northeast Classic
- Last time out, the Seahawks placed fifth at the second NEC meet of the season.
- The Green & White come into this weekend with a 4-10 conference record.

Track & Field
- The Seahawks will compete at the Gotham Cup/Ramapo Opener at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex on Friday, January 19.
- Last time out, senior Jason Marchese took home his second consecutive victory in the 200m
- Freshman Jack Mason has been the recipient of the last three conference's 'Rookie of the Week' honors. 

Swimming & Diving
- The Seahawks return to the pool for the second half of their schedule in Vestal, NY at Binghamton on Saturday, January 20.
- Both the men and women have seen multiple Northeast Conference (NEC) weekly awards come their way, including for four straight weeks to end the fall semester.
