Piscataway, NJ – The Wagner College football team dropped a 52-3 decision at FBS member Rutgers on Saturday at SHI Stadium.
Wagner enters its bye week with a 2-0 record in Northeast Conference (NEC) play and 2-3 mark overall, while the Scarlet Knights improve to 4-1 with today's victory.
The Seahawks' lone score of the afternoon came late in the second quarter. After a 67-yard kickoff return by sophomore
Kobi Ray-Reed, Wagner advanced the ball into the red zone and got on the board with a 29-yard field goal by freshman
Ryan Liszner.
Rutgers scored double-digit points in each quarter to earn the victory.
Senior
Justin Reilly led Wagner defensively with seven total tackles, while graduate student
John Gioia added five tackles and a sack.
Wagner's next contest will be a nationally televised game at Saint Francis U on October 12, with kickoff set for 7:00 pm on CBSSportsNetwork.
