Loretto, PA – The Wagner College football team suffered its first loss in Northeast Conference (NEC) play this season, as the Seahawks fell 31-7 at Saint Francis U on Thursday night.
After the Red Flash got out to a 14-0 lead, the Seahawks answered, as graduate student quarterback
Steven Krajewski connected with junior
Trevor Shorter for a seven-yard touchdown with under a minute left in the first half to get Wagner within one score at the midway mark.
Saint Francis U shut out the Green and White in the second half, scoring 17 points to earn the victory, as quarterback Cole Doyle passed for three touchdowns on the night.
Krajewski finished the night with 193 yards through the air and 42 yards on the ground, with freshman
Jaylen Bonelli leading Wagner with four catches for 104 yards.
Defensively, senior
Junior Wily paced the Seahawks with eight tackles and 1.5 tackles for loss, while sophomore
Jayden Brown notched an interception along with a pass breakup and six tackles.
Next up, Wagner will return home for three straight home games, starting with a noon contest against Central Connecticut on October 21.
