Staten Island, NY - The Wagner women's soccer team played to a 2-2 draw against Binghamton on Sunday afternoon at Hameline Field.
Freshman Jess Maraia was the star of the day, scoring both of Wagner's goals.
In the 56th minute, six minutes after Binghamton took a 1-0 lead, Maraia showed off her hustle after freshman Sara Wiedeman's shot was blocked. The New City, NY native raced to the loose ball and slid it past goalkeeper Kaitlyn Williams for the equalizer.
Later in the half in the 81st minute, Maraia scored again off of an assist from freshman Hannah Costa. The through ball from Costa connected with Maraia's right boot as she found the low left corner of Binghamton's goal to make it a 2-1 game.
The Seahawks played with heart all day, but they would miss out on a chance to make it two wins in a row after the Bearcats scored with 39 seconds remaining in the contest.
Six players logged 90 minutes of action in the thrilling match.
Wagner's final non-conference opponent will be NJIT. The two will square off in Newark, NJ on Sunday, September 10 at 1:00 pm.
