Stony Brook, NY - The Wagner College cross country teams both opened up their season at the Stony Brook season opener on Saturday. 

The women's team finished tied for fourth, while the men's team completed the race in third overall.

Sophomore Laura Trenado led the way for the Seahawks as she ran the 4k in 14:41.9, finishing in fifteenth place overall. Seniors Elizabeth Szambel and Ana Blanco Duran followed closely behind, finishing with times of 15:11.1 and 15:27, respectively.

Sophomore Peyton Miller and freshman Victoria Ann Dziubela rounded out the scoring for the Green & White. Miller finished in the top-40 as she clocked in a time of 15:43.6. Dziubela ran the 4k in 16:09.9, crossing the finish line in fortieth place. 

The women's team scored 141 points, concluding the day tied for fourth place with Fordham.
 

On the men's side, seniors Muhammad Qadri and Michael Brannick set the pace for the Seahawks. Qadri ran the 6.2k event in 21:08.8, placing eighth. Brannick closely trailed Qadri's footpath, finishing in 21:09.6 for 19th overall.

Graduate student Dominic Palermo, senior Anthony Bentivegna, and sophomore Michael Seta paced the Seahawks as Palermo crossed the finish line in 21st place with a time of 21:15.4, Bentivegna finished in 22nd, and Seta in 24th.

The men's team ended the day in third place with a total team score of 104. 
 

Next up, both the men's and women's cross country teams will roll into Brookville, NY on Saturday, September 9th for the LIU Invite.
