Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team hosted the Wagner Clay Court Invitational last Friday, on September 22 at the Richmond County Country Club.

Rider and Queens College also competed in the invitational. 

The Seahawks started out hot in doubles play, winning five out of eight hidden dual matches. 

Four of those wins came against Rider, as senior Rodrigo Perez and freshman David Krasner defeated Giacomo Ghitti and Jaime de Jaraiz (6-3). 

In doubles play, Senior Lucas Darling and freshman Naseem Rahman defeated Marcus Fredriksson and Elyad Oshnavie (6-3). Senior Aryan Gupta and Sebastian Dobson defeated Jonathan Arbittier & Dylan Lachmanan (6-1). Junior Jordan Hunte and sophomore Kunsh Moolchandani defeated Tommy Fuentes and Chris Polish (6-0).

Perez and Krasner also recorded a win against Roni Rikkonen and Omar El Shehawey of Queens College (7-5). The Seahawks dropped their last three doubles matches against Queens College. 

In singles competition, Wagner dropped five matches against Queens College and one against Rider. 

Day two of the invitational was canceled due to weather. 

Next up, the Seahawks will head to Hempstead, NY, to compete in the Hofstra Invitational from Saturday, September 30 and Sunday, October 1.
