New Haven, CT - The Wagner College men's and women's track & field team sent six Seahawks to the Last Chance Meet at the Cuyler Athletic Complex on Saturday, hosted by Yale University. This meet is for athletes to set new season bests prior to the NCAA Eastern Regional Selection.
Senior Jean Uminski not only set his season best, but he further extended his own 5000m run school record with a time of 14:07.44. The Paris native earned a fourth place finish in the event.
Uminski dethrones his previous best by over seven seconds, which he set back at the Bison Outdoor Classic.
Junior Jason Marchese ran his best 400m dash of the season with a time of 47.61, besting his previous by .02. Marchese also finished first in the event.
Senior Luke Cunningham and junior Michael Hubert both competed in the 800m run. Cunningham ran a 1:53.39 and Hubert followed with a time of 1:58.05.
Coming off a first place finish at the NEC Outdoor Championships, senior Dominic Palermo ran the 3000m steeplechase in 9:01.85. This mark landed Palermo second in the event.
Representing the women's team, sophomore Ruth-Ann Chambers participated in the 400m dash and finished with a time of 58.34, granting her second in the event.
Next up, both the Wagner men's and women's track & field teams will be awaiting the NCAA First Round entries, which are expected to be finalized next week.
