West Windsor, NJ - The Wagner College women's tennis team competed in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Tournament against second-seeded Sacred Heart at the Mercer County Tennis Center on Friday morning.
The Seahawks finished the season 2-16 overall, 1-5 in conference, including a 4-0 loss to the Pioneers in the NEC Quarterfinal, who will play LIU for the title on Sunday, April 16th.
Sacred Heart would get off to a quick start and grab the doubles point. The junior duo of Gabrielle Perraudin and Tara Dakic could not get the Green & White going, dropping #1 doubles position.
In singles action, Perraudin dropped #1 singles, 3-6, 6-2. Dakic was retired at #2 singles by Sacred Heart's Vitalina Golod, 1-6, 4-2.
Freshman Samantha Bentsianov could not get the Seahawks a point at #3 singles, losing, 3-6, 1-2. Sophomore Paula Ysabelle Uy and freshman Jasmine Line dropped their matches at #4 and #5, respectively. Sophomore Jade Schoenfeld was at the #6 position for the Seahawks, but was defeated in straight sets.
The Seahawks have two potential returners next year who recorded a combined 9-8 record the #1 singles position this season.
Gabrielle Perraudin finishes the year 9-12 overall, going 2-3 in conference play. Perraudin went 6-3 in her last nine duals, including ending the season on a three-game win streak in the regular season.
Tara Dakic finished the season 8-10 overall, including 2-2 in conference play.
