Branchburg, NJ - The Wagner men's golf team's match play event against Manhattan ended in a 4.5-4.5 tie on Thursday at Fox Hollow Golf Club.
There were nine individual matches in the event with one point being awarded to a match winner and .5 points being awarded to each team in the event of a match tie.
Junior Matthew Schurin defeated Tyler Nguyen to open the event. Schurin secured the victory 6 and 5 to give Wagner the early advantage.
While junior Joshua Hayes lost the next match to Ashley Sewell, freshman Johnny Svalina helped the Seahawks regain the lead as he finished 1 up on Finbar Bonner.
Wagner took a 3-1 lead after senior Galantini won 5 and 4. Junior Luke Bigelow then gave his team a 4-1 lead as he edged out Dimitri Mihelakos on the 18th hole.
But the Jaspers began to mount a comeback.
Junior Thomas Choi ended up losing his match on the 18th hole before freshman Renato Gerena lost to Max Levine, 7 and 5. Freshman Rasmus Seppanen lost his match on the 18th hole as well.
In the final match, sophomore Michael Foley and Lincoln Haymaker battled to the end, but the two ended in a draw, leading to the 4.5-4.5 final score.
The Seahawks will travel to Springfield, PA next to take part in the Columbia Spring Invitational at the Rolling Green Golf Club on Monday, April 3.
