New Britain, CT – The Wagner College women's lacrosse team opened Northeast Conference (NEC) play with a 16-4 win at Central Connecticut State on Saturday afternoon.
The Green & White put a stamp on the contest in the first quarter as they outscored the Blue Devils 5-2. Four different goal scorers contributed for the Seahawks as junior
Kelsey Scheidel tallied two goals while senior
Emily Wesoky and sophomores
Sophia Colver and
Ella Marino found the back of the net once.
Wagner continued to apply pressure in the second quarter as they outscored Central Connecticut State 4-1. Sophomore
Katie Siverson and senior
Megan Greco tallied their first goals of the game as
Sophia Colver and
Emily Wesoky tallied their second goals of the game. Wagner took a 9-2 lead into halftime.
The Seahawks opened the third quarter on a 6-0 run as they held a 15-3 lead after the run, the Blue Devils tallied a goal at the end of the third to put an end to the Wagner run. Sophomore
Kendra Hall tallied two goals in the third while
Kelsey Scheidel netted her third goal of the game.
Katie Siverson netted her second goal of the game while freshman
Emily Ryan got on the scoresheet as well in the frame.
Freshman
Kristina Pisano tallied the lone Wagner goal of the fourth quarter as they held on for a 16-4 win.
Kelsey Scheidel led the way for Wagner with three goals to go along with one assist as
Kendra Hall netted two goals and
Emily Wesoky chipped in two goals and two assists.
Wagner will be back in action on Wednesday, March 22 when they travel to DeLand, FL to take on Stetson at 12:00 pm.
