Women’s Lacrosse Falls To Monmouth

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College women's lacrosse team dropped a non-conference contest 13-9 to Monmouth on Wednesday evening at Hameline Field.

Wagner jumped out to a 2-0 lead behind goals from graduate student Nia Scott and senior Megan Greco. After Monmouth cut the Wagner lead to 2-1, sophomore Kendra Hall tallied her fourth goal in the last two games to give Wagner a 3-1 lead at the end of the first period.

Monmouth outscored Wagner 2-1 in the second quarter as senior Emily Wesoky netted the lone goal for Wagner in the second.
The Hawks put a stamp on the contest in the third quarter when they launched a 5-0 run throughout the quarter. Monmouth led the contest 8-4 entering the fourth quarter.

Monmouth tallied five more goals in the fourth quarter while holding Wagner to just three goals. Megan Greco, Kendra Hall and sophomore Sophia Colver tallied goals for Wagner in the fourth but it wasn't enough to overcome the Monmouth advantage.

Graduate student goalkeeper and reigning Northeast Conference (NEC) Defensive Player of the Week Lauren DiStefano stopped 17 shots in the contest as Kendra Hall and Megan Greco tallied two goals each.

Wagner will be back in action on Saturday, March 4 when they welcome Lehigh to Hameline Field at 12:00 pm.
