Easton, PA – The Wagner College women's lacrosse team earned its first win of the 2023 season with a 9-4 victory at Lafayette on Wednesday night.
Wagner jumped out to a 1-0 lead early in the first quarter as graduate student
Nia Scott tallied her first goal for the Green & White. After Lafayette knotted the score at one, the Seahawks ended the first half on a 3-0 run behind goals from sophomore's
Sophia Colver,
Kendra Hall and
Katie Siverson.
The goal for Colver was her first of the season, Hall's goal was her second and Siverson's was her team-leading sixth goal of the young season.
Graduate student goalie
Lauren DiStefano tallied her 400th career save as a member of the Wagner women's lacrosse program in the second quarter. The West Islip, NY native became the fifth member of the 400-save club in program history.
In the third quarter, Lafayette cut into the Wagner lead with an early goal to make the game 4-2 before Wagner rattled off a 4-0 run behind two goals from sophomore
Ella Marino and one goal from junior
Kelsey Scheidel and
Kendra Hall.
The lone goal of the fourth quarter belonged to
Kendra Hall, who tallied her first career hat trick with her third goal of the game.
Lauren DIStefano finished with 12 saves as she reached double-digit saves for the 20th time in her career. DiStefano moves to fourth all-time with 408 career saves.
The Seahawks will be back in action on Wednesday, March 1 when they welcome Monmouth to Hameline Field at 6:00 pm.
