Men’s Basketball Hosts Stonehill On Senior Day

Watch | Live Stats | Game Notes

Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will play host to Stonehill on Thursday night at 7:00 pm on NECFrontRow. Prior to tip-off, the Seahawks will honor their seniors in a pregame ceremony.

Thank You Seniors

Prior to Saturday's game, Wagner will honor three players for a senior day ceremony: Jordan Mason, Ja'Mier Fletcher, and Jahbril Price-Noel.

Postseason Picture

With two games to play in the regular season, the postseason picture in the Northeast Conference (NEC) is still wide open. The Seahawks remain alive for a top-four seed, but need to win out and receive help.

The NEC's tiebreaking rules are listed here.

Dominating The Glass

The Seahawks continue to be among the best teams in the nation in offensive rebounds, sitting 20th with 12.6 offensive rebounds per game. Wager also leads the NEC with a rebounding margin of 3.9, good for 62nd nationally.

Wagner DNA On Display

The Seahawks enter the final week of the regular season ranked 20th in the country in scoring defense at 62.3 points per game. Wagner also leads the conference in field goal percentage defense, holding opponents to 42.8% from the field.

Sharing The Ball

Junior DeLonnie Hunt enters the week with 192 career assists. Hunt leads all juniors in the NEC with three assists per game. Wagner's assists leader, sophomore Javier Ezquerra (3.1 assists per game), ranks second in the conference in assist/turnover ratio at 2.33.

Brandon Brown Continues To Impress

Senior guard Brandon Brown led the Seahawks with 11.5 ppg, 6.5 rpg and 2.0 spg last week. He is the NEC's second-leading rebounder at 8.8 per game. Brown ranks 47th nationally in rebounds per game and paces the conference at 2.8 offensive rebounds per game, good for 66th nationally.

The Series

In the first meeting between the two teams, Wagner led 24-21 at the midway mark behind 14 first-half points by sophomore Rob Taylor II, but it wasn't enough, as Stonehill earned a 62-58 win over the Seahawks. Taylor finished with a game-high 17 points and 11 rebounds, while sophomore Javier Ezquerra and graduate student Jahbril Price-Noel added 12 points. Senior Brandon Brown was the second Seahawk with 11 rebounds, while adding six points offensively.

Big Man Efficiency

Filling in for the injured Rob Taylor II, Ja'Mier Fletcher scored a season-high 13 points in Wagner's loss to Fairleigh Dickinson. Freshman Keyontae Lewis added six points off the bench, with Lewis and Fletcher combining for 19 points on an efficient 7-9 shooting.

Scouting The Skyhawks

Stonehill enters Thursday night's matchup with a 10-5 record in NEC action, tied for the league lead in wins. To earn at least a share of the NEC title, the Skyhawks need a win at Wagner coupled with a Merrimack loss. Alternately, Stonehill can lose at Wagner and win a share of the championship if Merrimack loses twice and FDU falls once. The road to an outright NEC crown is a win over Wagner, two Merrimack defeats and one FDU setback.

Up Next

Wagner will close out the regular season on Saturday at 4:00 pm at Saint Francis U.
