Bloomington, IN – The Wagner College women's water polo team earned three victories at the Indiana Classic this weekend.
In its first game at Indiana, The Seahawks earned a tight 22-17 victory over Pacific. Both teams combined for 16 goals in the first half as both teams entered halftime with eight goals apiece.
In the third quarter, the Seahawks created separation as they outscored the Tigers 5-2. In a very high scoring fourth quarter, the two sides combined for 16 goals as Wagner outscored Pacific 9-7 in the final frame. Senior
Abbey Simshauser netted seven goals in the fourth quarter, the most for a Wagner player this season in a game.
Wagner saw its seven-game winning streak snapped against the hosts Indiana in the second game of the first day of the tournament. Both teams combined for four goals in the opening quarter as the first quarter ended tied at two.
Indiana outscored Wagner 2-1 in the second and third quarters to take a 6-4 lead into the fourth quarter. Wagner mounted a comeback in the fourth as they outscored Indiana 2-0 behind two goals from
Abbey Simshauser. The Hoosiers outscored the Seahawks 2-1 in overtime to take the game by a score of 8-7.
Wagner got back in the win column in its first game on Sunday with a 27-14 win over Saint Francis U. The 27 goals were a season-high for the Green & White.
Five Seahawks tallied at least three goals against the Red Flash as sophomore

Wagner wrapped up the weekend against California Baptist with a 16-12 win. Graduate student

Abbey Simshauser led the way offensively for Wagner with a hat trick and one assist while
Carlota Alonso,
Andrea Arias and
Magali Ogg each tallied two goals.
Freshman goalkeeper
Francesca Sena stopped six shots in her third victory in goal this weekend.
The Seahawks will be back in action on March 4 when they take on Harvard and Gannon in Cambridge, MA before traveling to Providence, RI to take on Redlands and Brown on March 5.
