Fairfield, CT - The Wagner College women's lacrosse team fell to Fairfield 12-7 on Saturday afternoon.
In the opening frame, Fairfield outscored Wagner 3-2. Sophomore
Katie Siverson opened the game with a goal while senior
Megan Greco netted a goal with eight seconds left in the opening quarter.
The Stags outscored the Seahawks 4-1 in the second quarter as sophomore
Kendra Hall tallied the lone goal for Wagner in the second.
In the third quarter, Fairfield built an 8-3 advantage over Wagner on five-straight goals. The Seahawks mounted a comeback of four consecutive goals to bring the score to 8-7.
The run was mounted by two goals from
Katie Siverson and one goal from
Megan Greco and senior
Emily Wesoky.
After Wagner's run, Fairfield closed the game on a 4-0 run to earn the 12-7 victory.
Graduate student
Lauren DiStefano stopped seven shots in the contest while classmate
Aileen Hannan scooped four ground balls, caused one turnover and tallied three draw controls.
Wagner will be back in action on Wednesday, February 22 when they travel to Easton, PA to take on Lafayette at 7:00 pm.
