Men's Basketball Travels To Coppin State On Wednesday

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's basketball team will travel to Coppin State on Wednesday, with tip-off set for 7:00 pm on ESPN+.
 
Last Time Out
 
Wagner erased a 16-point deficit to earn a 60-59 victory at Stony Brook on Saturday afternoon.
 
Down 32-16 with three minutes to play in the first half and trailing 34-21 at the half, the Seahawks outscored the Seawolves 39-25 in the second half to earn the victory. The Green and White connected on 14-26 (53.8%) shots from the field in the second half, including six three-pointers, while holding Stony Brook to 11-27 (40.7%) in the second period.
 
Taking Care Of The Ball
 
The Seahawks have turned the ball over 63 times this season, which is tied for seventh in the country. Averaging nine turnovers per game, Wagner is tied for 11th in the nation. The Seahawks only recorded six turnovers against Stony Brook and had a 15-4 advantage in points from turnovers, as the Seawolves committed 14 turnovers.
 
Council Continues To Impress
 
Junior Melvin Council Jr. was named a Northeast Conference (NEC) Prime Performer. Council was tied for the team lead with 13 points at Stony Brook and has now scored in double figures in three straight games. The first year Seahawk is Wagner's leading scorer at 13.7 points per game and is also second on the team with 5.1 rebounds per contest after grabbing a career-high eight rebounds against Providence a week ago.
 
Ezquerra Stuffs The Stat Sheet
 
Junior Javier Ezquerra was the second Seahawk to score 13 points against Stony Brook while adding five assists and three steals in the contest. Ezquerra already has three games with four or more assists and three games with three or more steals this season. His performance against Stony Brook also included a season-high three three-pointers and five made field goals. Against Providence, Ezquerra added a season-high seven rebounds.
 
Williams' Big Second Half
 
Junior Zaire Williams scored all 11 of his points on Saturday in the second half for his second consecutive game in double figures. Williams has made a three in five consecutive games.
 
Starting To Heat Up From Deep
 
The Seahawks are connecting on 7.7 three-pointers per contest this season. Wagner already has two games with 10 threes against Division I opposition this season after only having one a year ago and hit nine threes against the Seawolves last Saturday. Junior Tahron Allen leads the Seahawks with 62.5% (5-8) accuracy from long range after going 3-3 from beyond the arc against Stony Brook.
 
The Series
 
Wednesday night's contest marks the third all-time meeting between the Seahawks and Eagles. Wagner holds a 2-0 lead in the series after earning consecutive victories in 2012-13 and 2013-14.
 
Scouting The Eagles
 
Coppin State enters Wednesday's matchup with a 1-8 record. The Eagles are 1-1 at home, earning their lone victory of the season over UMBC on November 30.
