Riverdale, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team outscored Manhattan 43-29 in the second half to wrap up non-conference play with a 68-56 victory over the Jaspers on Saturday night.

With the victory, Wagner enters Northeast Conference (NEC) action with a 6-6 record, the best across the conference.

Junior Tahron Allen led the Seahawks with 17 points, 13 of which came in the second half. Junior Melvin Council Jr. added 16 points and 12 rebounds, while junior Javier Ezquerra contributed 15 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds.

Ezquerra became just the eighth player in the nation this season with at least 15 points, seven assists, and seven rebounds without committing a turnover.

Trailing 27-25 at the midway mark, the Seahawks started the second half with an 8-0 run, capped by a traditional three-point play by Allen.

Both teams went back and forth in a two-possession game from there until five straight points by Ezquerra broke the game open for the Seahawks and made it a 47-36 game with 11:58 to play.

Another Ezquerra three with four minutes to play put the Seahawks up by 15 at 62-47, as Wagner hung on late for the victory.

The Seahawks held a 40-32 edge on the glass and outscored the Jaspers 34-20 in the paint. As a team, the Green and White combined for 17 assists on the night.
