Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will host Division II member Molloy for the Seahawks' home opener on Thursday night at 7:00 pm on NECFrontRow.

Wagner led 31-23 at the half, but it wasn't enough, as the Seahawks fell 68-64 in overtime at Fordham in the season-opener for both teams on Monday night.

Melvin Council Jr. and
Tyje Kelton combined for 38 points, with Council leading all scorers with 21 points on 8-16 shooting.
Kelton also recorded a game-high 13 rebounds for his first double-double in a Seahawk uniform. The two former Monroe teammates combined for 59% of Wagner's offensive output on the night.
Council left his mark on the game early, scoring on a thunderous dunk in the first half as part of a run that gave the Green and White an early lead.
Dominating The Glass
The Seahawks held a 44-39 edge on the glass against Fordham, tied for the second-most rebounds under head coach
Donald Copeland and tied for the most rebounds against a Division I opponent in the last two seasons. Wagner's five blocks were also the most blocks against a Division I opponent since recording seven rejections against Mount St. Mary's in 2022.
Additionally, the Seahawks converted 17 offensive boards into 14 second chance points.
Wagner In Home Openers
The Seahawks have won six straight openers at the Spiro Sports Center. Last year, the Seahawks earned an 82-52 victory over Neumann.
The Series
Thursday night's matchup marks the first-ever meeting between the Seahawks and Lions. Molloy is one of two non-Division I opponents of the season for the Seahawks, who will host Gwynedd Mercy on December 22.
Scouting The Lions
Thursday night's game serves as Molloy's season-opener. The Lions finished the 2022-23 season with an 11-18 overall record.
