Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team will take on Sacred Heart in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championship game on Sunday at 12:00 pm.

Last Time Out
Wagner earned its first postseason win in program history with a 3-1 NEC semifinal victory over Fairfield on Friday, November 3.

Freshman Pilar Lorenzini led the way for Wagner with two assists. Graduate student Madison Hoskins and seniors Natalie Rocuskie and Sophie Giltrap tallied goals for Wagner against Fairfield.

First Time
In its fifth season of competition, the Seahawks will play in its first-ever NEC title game. This playoff appearance was the third consecutive for the Seahawks. In 2021, Wagner fell to LIU in the NEC semifinals before falling to Fairfield in the 2022 semifinals.

Winning Ways
Wagner will be riding a five-game winning streak into the NEC title game. The Seahawks' last defeat came on Friday, October 13 with a 2-1 loss against Fairfield.

After the loss to Fairfield, Wagner defeated Towson, LIU, Rider, and Stonehill to end the regular season. The final three NEC contest victories propelled the Seahawks into the postseason.

Wagner has also won six out of its last eight contests dating back to October 6.

About Sacred Heart
The Pioneers return to the NEC title game for the first time since 2006 and will be seeking the program's first NEC crown since 2005.

Sacred Heart defeated Saint Francis U in double overtime to advance to the championship game.

What's Next
The winner of the NEC Tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament.
