Somerset, NJ - Four members of the Wagner College cross country teams have been named to the 2023 Northeast Conference (NEC) All-Conference Teams, announced on Tuesday afternoon.
On the women's side, sophomore Laura Trenado and junior Gia Comerford earned All-Conference honors with their performances at the NEC Cross Country Championships on Saturday, October 28 in Brookville, NY.
Trenado finished the NEC 5k race in 18:47.1, placing fifth out of 81 runners. This is Trenado's second All-Conference award in as many seasons. The Madrid, Spain native also was on the All-Rookie Team after last year's NEC Championship, after placing 12th at the event.
Comerford crossed the finish line in 14th, with a time of 19:26.5. The Staten Island, NY native averaged a mile pace of 6:15 throughout the three-mile run, to earn her first All-Conference award of her career.
For the men, graduate student Dominic Palermo and senior Anthony Bentivegna were named to the men's NEC All-Conference teams for the 2023 season.
For Palermo, this is his fourth consecutive year being listed as a member of the NEC All-Conference team.
Palermo led the Seahawks to a fourth place finish at the NEC Championships, finishing in third place for the second-straight season, out of the 88 participants. This performance was Palermo's fourth top-ten finish of his career at NEC Championships.
At this year's event, the Staten Island, NY native finished the 8k course in 25:29.8, for an average mile pace of 5:08.
Bentivegna earned his second All-Conference honor, adding his second award after being named to the list in 2020-21. Betivegna finished the title race in seventh place, with a time of 25:45.1, for an average mile time of 5:11.
