Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College field hockey team will take on Fairfield in the Northeast Conference (NEC) semifinals on Friday.
Tournament Information
This is the fourth time in five years that Wagner College will play host to the NEC tournament.Â
Wagner will welcome Fairfield, Saint Francis U and Sacred Heart for the tournament. The regular season champion Fairfield will take on the fourth seeded Seahawks on Friday, November 3 at 11:00 am. The second semifinal will be the second seeded Saint Francis U Red Flash and the third seeded Sacred Heart Pioneers.
The NEC Championship game will be on Sunday, November 5 at 12:00 pm.
Season Recap
The Seahawks ended the regular season on a four-game winning streak. Three of those victories were NEC wins. The Seahawks defeated LIU, Rider and Stonehill in the final three conference games of the regular season to earn a playoff berth for the third consecutive season.
Senior Shaelyn Kobrynich led the Seahawks with five goals as freshman Puck Schenk started 11 games in goal for the Seahawks. Schenk stopped 39 shots while having a goals against average of 1.73. Schenk's saves and goals against average ranked fourth in the NEC.
Playoff History
The Seahawks return to the NEC tournament for the third consecutive year after winning the final three conference contests of the season.
Wagner will be seeking the first postseason win in program history. This is the second consecutive season the Seahawks and Stags will meet in the NEC semifinals. Last season, Fairfield defeated Wagner 2-1 to advance to the NEC title game.
Three Seahawks Earn All-NEC Honors
Junior Emma Lofstedt of the Wagner College field hockey team earned First Team All-NEC honors as Shaelyn Kobrynich and freshman Charlotte Müller were named to the Second Team.
Lofstedt earns her first All-NEC honor after starting in all 16 games for the Seahawks. The Durban, South Africa native was first on the team with 12 points while leading the team with 14 shots on goal and 23 shots. Lofstedt also led the Seahawks with four assists.
Shaelyn Kobyrnich earned her first-ever All-NEC honor after leading the Seahawks with five goals. The Clarks Summit, PA native started in all 16 games for Wagner while tallying 12 points. Kobrynich's 12 points were tied with fellow All-NEC honoree Emma Lofstedt.
Charlotte Müller appeared and started in all 16 games during her first season on Grymes Hill, she tallied two assists while playing a huge role in the Seahawks defensive efforts throughout the season.
This is the third consecutive season the Seahawks have had at least three All-NEC honorees.
About Fairfield
Fairfield earned an NEC regular season title for the third time since 2019 after going 7-0 in conference play. Fairfield earned a 14-3 record and they are riding a four-game winning streak to end the regular season. Lucie Vincent led the NEC with 13 goals and five game-winning goals. She was also second in the NEC with 37 shots.Â
As a team, the Stags tallied a league-high 48 goals during the regular season and a league-high 241 shots. Fairfield's 34 assists as a team was also atop the NEC.

The winner of the NEC semifinals will participate in the NEC title game on Sunday, November 5 at 12:00 pm.
