New Britain, CT - The Wagner women's soccer team ended its regular season with a 2-1 road loss to CCSU on Thursday afternoon. The Seahawks finish an even 5-5 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play as the NEC Tournament approaches.
Freshman Sara Wiedeman was the lone goal scorer for the Green & White. The Haddon Township, NJ native registered the first goal of her career in the 66th minute to knot the match up at one apiece. Graduate student Juliana Rafaniello assisted on the score.
Wiedeman's goal was sandwiched in between two CCSU goals, resulting in another narrow road loss for the Seahawks. They finished 2-3 on the road during conference play.
Junior Sam Hughes logged a season-high ten saves to keep Wagner within striking distance.Â
Junior Emma Roe and Wiedeman led the team with two shots apiece.Â
The Seahawks will await the results of the remaining games on Thursday to determine who they will be facing off against in the first round of the NEC Tournament, which begins on Sunday, October 29.
