Angelia Lubrano Places First At Bowl For A Cure Tournament

East Haven, CT - The Wagner bowling team began the 2023-24 season at the Bowl For A Cure tournament, hosted by Sacred Heart at AMF Circle Lanes. 

The Seahawks participated in five traditional matches during day two of the weekend.

Bowl For A Cure played host to six teams on Sunday; Wagner, Sacred Heart, LIU, Bryant, Adelphi, and Saint Anselm. Wagner finished the tournament with three traditional match victories, out of their five matches. Wagner would score the highest game score of the day, with a 902 to kick off the day. 

The Seahawks completed the day with traditional match scores of 902, 853, 878, 747, and 765, for a total sum pinfall of 4,145. The Green & White would finish the tournament in second, with an average game pinfall of 165.8.

Newcomer from St. Francis Brooklyn, Angelia Lubrano, would stand atop the individual standings out of the 41 participants. Lubrano rolled a tournament-best 233 during the first traditional match, and would finish with a total pinfall of 925, and a game average of 185 over the five matches. 

Senior captain Totiana Miranda finished ninth overall, with sophomore Samantha McDermott placing closely behind in 12th. Miranda ended the tournament with a total pinfall of 831 and a game average of 166.2, and McDermott concluded her day with a total pinfall of 802, and a game average of 160.4.

Senior Amanda Medvetz, junior AG Carhart, and junior Kristina Colon also competed for the Seahawks at the tournament. Medvetz placed 16th with an average game pinfall of 151. Carhart played in three matches and Colon played in two. Carhart's total pinfall was 450, with a game average of 150. Colon would score a pinfall of 382, for a game average of 191.

Next up, Wagner will host the 'Seahawk Invite' from Saturday, November 4 and Sunday, November 5, at Rab's Country Lane.
