Cross Country Takes Part In IC4A/ECAC Championships

Van Cortlandt Park, NY - Wagner's men's and women's cross country teams traveled to the Bronx for the 114th annual IC4A/ECAC Championships, hosted by Fordham University. 

The men's race consisted of an 8k course, which started at 10:45 am. The women's team ran a 6k race that began at 11:30 am. This year's IC4A/ECAC Championships saw 36 teams compete, with 288 finishers in the women's race, and 310 on the men's side.

The women's team completed the event in 33rd, with a team score of 844. 

The first finisher for the Seahawks was senior Ana Blanco Duran. In the last 1.3 miles, the Spain native moved up 16 spots. Blanco Duran crossed the finish line in 92nd, with a time of 22:36.2.

Sophomore Laura Trenado was next to finish for the Green & White. Trenado finished in 138th, clocking in a time of 23:03.2. Junior Lara Jacobs placed 233rd, finishing at the 24:29.6 mark. 

Freshmen Victoria Ann Dziubela and Magui Calvo-Jorge rounded out the scoring for Wagner. Dziubela ended the race in 249th, with Calvo-Jorge finishing immediately behind her in 250th. Dziubela's finish time was 25:08.6, while Calvo-Jorge clocked in a time of 25:12.7. 

Sophomore Angelina Olah was also a participant in the race, finishing in 272nd with a time of 26:29.8.

 

As for the men's team, the Seahawks placed in 25th out of the 34 teams competing. The Green & White came away with a total team score of 736.

Leading the way for the Green & White was graduate student Dominic Palermo. This is the second straight race in which Palermo has represented the first finisher for the Seahawks.

At IC4A/ECAC, the Staten Island native completed the event in 62nd, with a time of 25:01.3, defeating his previous race's time by half a minute.

Junior Michael Ryan and senior Anthony Bentivegna were next to cross the finish line for Wagner. Ryan placed in 131st with a time of 25:40.8, while Bentivegna ended the race in 200th with a time of 26:12.

Sophomore Justin Morris and senior Paul Siconolfi rounded out the scoring for the men's team. Morris placed in 216th, and Siconolfi in 252nd. Morris clocked in a time of 26:19.5, and Siconolfi finished with a time of 26:50. 

Junior Michael Brannick, freshman Eric Marquez, and sophomore Matthew Seta also competed for the Seahawks at the Championships. Marquez ran in his first race as a member of the Wagner Seahawks' cross country team, finishing in 272nd with a time of 27:14.9.
 

Next up, both the men's and women's teams will take part in the Northeast Conference (NEC) Championships on Saturday, October 28th in Brookville, NY.
