Staten Island, NY – The Wagner College men's basketball team will look to get back on track on Saturday, when the Seahawks play host to Saint Francis U, with tip-off set for 4:00 pm at the Spiro Sports Center.
 
Taylor's Career Night
 
In Thursday night's loss at Stonehill, sophomore Rob Taylor II set a new career-high with 17 points while tying his personal best with 11 rebounds.
 
This marked Taylor's second double-double of his career in his first career start. 
 
Taylor only needed one half to set a new career-high, scoring 14 points on 6-10 shooting in the first 20 minutes.
 
The Series
 
Wagner has won five straight against Saint Francis U, including a three-game sweep last season.
 
The two teams last met in the 2022 NEC Quarterfinal, with the Seahawks earning a dominant 82-53 victory over the Red Flash at the Spiro Sports Center. DeLonnie Hunt led all players with a career-high 24 points in the matchup.
 
Scouting The Red Flash
 
Saint Francis U enters Saturday's matchup as one of two undefeated teams in NEC action after opening conference play with wins over CCSU and Stonehill. SFU is 5-10 on the season and is paced by Josh Cohen's 21.6 points per game.
 
Brown Continues To Impress
 
Brandon Brown averaged a double-double last week against LIU and Merrimack and leads the NEC with 8.8 rebounds per game after another double-digit rebound performance at Stonehill. The senior was named an NEC Prime Performer for his efforts. No Seahawk has averaged more rebounds per contest since former Wagner great Michael Carey, who averaged 9.1 rebounds during the 2016-17 season.
 
Successful Start
 
After an 8-4 non-conference start, the Seahawks won their Northeast Conference (NEC) opener at the Barclays Center last Thursday. Six players scored eight points or more as the Seahawks earned a 69-61 victory over LIU.
 
Protecting The Ball
 
With 11.2 turnovers per game, Wagner entered the week 40^th in the nation and first in the NEC. The Seahawks' turnover margin of 2.7 is 66^th nationally.S
 
Men's Basketball Reunion Scheduled
 
On, February 11^th, Wagner will honor the 2002-03 Wagner men's basketball team on the 20th anniversary of their NEC championship season! Wagner will welcome back players and coaches from that squad during the rivalry matchup against LIU.
