This Week In Wagner Athletics; Six Sports In Action As Women’s Water Polo Begins Season In California

Staten Island, NY - Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.

Men's Basketball
- Wagner will return to the Spiro Sports Center against Central Connecticut on Friday at 7:00 pm, before playing host to Sacred Heart on Sunday at 1:00 pm.
- Friday's game will serve as Staten Island Appreciation Night, while Sunday's game is EMS/First Responders Day.

Women's Basketball
- Wagner will host Stonehill at the Spiro Sports Center on Thursday, January 19 at 7:00 pm.
- Following its contest with Stonehill, Wagner will travel to New Britain, CT to take on CCSU at 12:30 pm on ESPN3.

Women's Water Polo
-The Seahawks will begin its 2023 season at the UCSB Winter Invite on Friday, January 20.

Bowling
- Wagner bowling travels to Deptford, New Jersey to compete in the Northeast Classic hosted by Sacred Heart University Friday, January 20. 
-In its last outing the Seahawks earned wins against Merrimack, St. Francis Brooklyn and LIU at the second conference tournament.  

Track & Field
-The Seahawks will compete at the NYC Gotham Cup this Friday, January 20 at the Ocean Breeze Athletic Complex.
-In its last outing at the Penn Select 10 meet the Seahawks made its way onto the leaderboard in multiple events.
-Last week the Seahawks earned its third NEC Track Athlete of the Week award as Micheal Hubert placed second in the 800m run with a time of 1:54.21 at the Wagner College Invitational. 
-Alex Taddeo was named NEC Rookie of the Week after his strong performance at the Penn Select 10.

 

Fencing
-The Seahawks will continue its season with the first meet of the spring season.
-Wagner was ranked 23rd in the nation by the United States Fencing Coaches Association (USFCA) on Friday, January 13.
