Princeton, NJ – The Wagner men's water polo team dropped both games at day one of the Princeton Invitational on Friday.
Wagner (8), St. Francis Brooklyn (13)
In a back-and-forth opening quarter, the team sides combined for nine goals. The Terriers took a 5-4 lead after the opening eight minutes. Freshman Lazsio Strasser tallied two out of the four goals for Wagner in the first.
St. Francis Brooklyn put a stamp on the contest in the second frame when they outscored Wagner 4-0 to take a 9-4 lead into the second half.
In the second half, both teams tallied four goals each. For Wagner, 
Laszio Strasser tallied one goal along with sophomore 
Mattia Bognolo. Senior Olivér Fodor tallied two goals in the fourth.
Along with his two goals, Olivér Fodor tallied one assist to go along with six exclusions drawn. Sophomore 
Adam Wuthrich stopped six shots in goal for Wagner in the second half.
Wagner (10), Princeton (13)
The Seahawks dropped the night cap to Princeton to close out the opening day of the Princeton Invitational.
In the opening quarter, the Tigers outscored the Seahawks 4-2. Junior Zsombor Gyémánt tallied both goals for Wagner in the quarter.
In the second quarter, Zsombor Gyémánt and Olivér Fodor tallied goals to level the game at four. Princeton ended the quarter on a 3-1 run. Princeton took a 7-5 lead into the halftime intermission.
Wagner again opened the quarter on a 2-0 run behind goals from 
Laszio Strasser and 
Mattia Bognolo. With the game tied at seven, the Tigers ended the quarter with two goals of their own to take a 9-7 advantage into the final quarter.
Princeton outscored Wagner 4-3 in the final frame as senior 
Karl Lovett, Olivér Fodor and 
Laszio Strasser scored for Wagner.
Laszio Strasser tallied a hat trick to go along with three assists and two exclusions drawn. Olivér Fodor tallied a hat trick and drew three exclusions as Zsombor Gyémánt tallied a hat trick.
Wagner will continue the Princeton Invitational tomorrow, September 10 when they take on Iona at 9:15 A.M.
