Madison Carr and sophomore
Olivia Rubbo claimed Northeast Conference (NEC) Player of the Week honors after strong performances against NJIT, the conference announced on Tuesday.
For Carr, this is her second NEC Player of the Week honor after claiming the award last season on August 23. As an All-NEC First Team performer last season, Carr tallied nine goals which moved her into a tie for third place on the Wagner single-season goal scoring list.
This season, Carr has tallied three goals in six games, including the game-winning goal with two minutes remaining against NJIT on Wednesday evening.
After not appearing in a game last season,
Olivia Rubbo has appeared in all six games for Wagner so far this season. the Holbrook, NY native scored her second goal of the season against NJIT on Wednesday. The goal tied the game late in the second half before
Madison Carr scored the eventual game-winner.
Along with earning individual honors, Carr and Rubbo were named Prime Performers by the conference, they were joined by senior goalkeeper
Erin Kelly. Against NJIT, Kelly stopped four shots en route to her second victory of the season. The Seahawks are 2-0 when Kelly starts in goal for the Green & White.
The Seahawks will begin a three-game road trip on Thursday, September 8 against Army at 7:00 P.M.
