This Week In Wagner Athletics; Nine Sports In Action As Women's Soccer Celebrates Senior Day

Staten Island, NY- Here is a look at the Wagner Athletics events for this week.

Women's Golf
  • The Seahawks participated in day one of the Boston College Intercollegiate on Monday. Day two wraps up the 54-hole event on Tuesday.

Football
  • The Seahawks will travel to #25 Syracuse on Saturday, with kickoff set for 5:00 pm on ACC Network Extra and ESPN+. Check wagnerathletics.com later this week for more. 

Men's Water Polo
  • After having last weekend away from the pool, the Seahawks will continue MAWPC play this week when they travel to Fordham on Thursday, September 29.
  • Also this weekend, Wagner will travel to George Washington on Saturday, October 1 and Navy on Sunday, October 2.
  • Freshman Laszlo Strasser leads Wagner with 22 goals and 47 points.
  • Junior Zsombor Gyémánt is now the program all-time assist leader with 116 career assists.

Women's Soccer

Field Hockey
  • In two games this past weekend, Wagner defeated Towson in 2-1 in overtime on Friday, September 23 before falling to Monmouth 3-2 in overtime on Sunday, September 25.
  • The Seahawks will open NEC play on Friday, September 30 at Merrimack before traveling to Brown on Sunday, October 2.
  • Graduate students Kayla Kruk and Laura Van Hamburg were named NEC Prime Performers on Tuesday.

Women's Tennis
  • The Wagner College Women's tennis team will be opening their fall season at the ITA Regionals on Friday, September 30.

Men's & Women's Cross Country 
  • Both men's and women's cross country will head to Bethlehem, PA for the Paul Short Run hosted by Lehigh University on Friday, September 30. 
  • At the LIU Invite on September 9, junior Anthony Bentivegna led the Wagner pack placing fourth with a time of 25:29.9.
  • After earning NEC Prime Performer for his performance at Stony Brook on September 3, graduate student Jean Uminski placed fifth while coming in at 25:33.17.
  • On the women's side, the Seahawks had two top-10 finishers at the LIU Invite. Freshman Laura Trenado had another strong race after her first outing at Stony Brook, as she finished seventh with a time of 19:40.13.
 

Men's Golf
  • The Seahawks head to Lake Placid, NY for The Autumn Invite hosted by Columbia on Saturday, October 1 and Sunday, October 2.
  • Wagner dropped a match play event to Monmouth last Wednesday, September 21.
