Staten Island, NY – The Wagner field hockey team earned a hard fought 2-1 overtime victory over Towson on Friday afternoon.
In the opening quarter, Towson tallied one shot on goal while Wagner failed to get a shot, graduate student goalkeeper
Daisy Ruhle stopped the lone Towson shot in the quarter.
Things heated up in the second quarter as the Green & White were able to generate chances as they put two shots in the quarter.
Through a tight first half, both teams finished the half with two shots as both goalkeepers had one save. Over the first 30 minutes, both teams also had three penalty corner opportunities.
In the second half, both teams continued to apply pressure as both sides tallied two shots while
Daisy Ruhle made one save to keep the game scoreless. Wagner also tallied four penalty corner opportunities but were unable to break the deadlock.
Towson took a 1-0 lead three minutes into the fourth quarter when they converted on a penalty corner opportunity.

Kayla Kruk who fired a shot into the back of the net to level the score. The game headed to sudden death overtime; this game was Wagner's second overtime game at home this season.
Less than a minute into overtime,
Kayla Kruk passed the ball towards the goal where graduate student Laura Van Hamburg was able to redirect the ball into the back of the net.
The win brings Wagner to 4-3 overall and 3-1 on Grymes Hill.
Wagner will begin a three-game road trip on Sunday, September 25 when they travel to Monmouth at 1:00 P.M.
