Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team dropped a Northeast Conference (NEC) contest 1-0 to Central Connecticut State at Hameline Field.
The Blue Devils opened the scoring 4:52 into the contest to earn the game's first goal.
Wagner had six shots in the opening 45 minutes while maintaining possession for a majority of the half. After letting up the opening goal, senior goalkeeper
Erin Kelly stopped two shots in the first half.
Through the rest of the first half, the Seahawks applied pressure with several quality changes to equalize but the half ended with the Blue Devils holding a 1-0 advantage.
Fifth year senior
Gabby Cipriano tallied two shots in the first half along with one on goal while senior
Madison Carr tallied three shots and one on goal.
Through the first 15 minutes Wagner tallied four shots and forced the Central Connecticut State goalkeeper to come up with three saves.
On the other side of the field,
Erin Kelly made one save early in the second half to keep the game at the same score.
Wagner tallied three shots on goal in the second half but were unable to level the score as Central Connecticut held on to earn a 1-0 victory.
In the contest, Wagner outshot Central Connecticut State 14-9 while having five shots on goal to the visitors' three.
The loss brings Wagner to 2-8 on the season and 0-2 in conference play.
Wagner will return to action on Thursday, September 29 when they travel to Fairleigh Dickinson at 7:00 P.M.
