Albany, NY – The Wagner women's soccer team fell to Albany, 4-1, on Sunday afternoon.
Wagner tallied its first shot of the afternoon 11 minutes in as graduate student
Gabby Cipriano's shot was saved by the Albany goalkeeper.
The Great Danes opened the scoring 24 minutes into the contest.
About 14 minutes later, Albany doubled its lead close to the end of the first half.
At the end of the first half, sophomore goalkeeper
Sam Hughes had five saves while
Gabby Cipriano's shot was the lone shot on target in the first half.
Albany extended its lead early in the second half to 3-0 before sophomore
Claire Janis tallied her second goal of the season with under eight minutes to play in the contest.
Gabby Cipriano led the way for Wagner with three shots while
Sam Hughes stopped six shots in the contest.
Janis' second goal of the season brings her tied for second on the Seahawks with classmate
Olivia Rubbo. Senior
Madison Carr leads wagner with three goals on the season.
The loss brings the Seahawks to 2-6 heading into Northeast Conference (NEC) play.
The Seahawks will begin conference play on Thursday, September 15 at Saint Francis U at 2:00 P.M.
