Fairfield, CT – The Wagner College softball team picked up a 3-2 victory over Sacred Heart in game two of Saturday's doubleheader after falling 3-2 in extra innings in game one.
With the split, the Seahawks move to 10-7 in Northeast Conference (NEC) play, while the Pioneers improve to 5-12 in league action.

The Seahawks got on the board early and never gave up their lead.
Sophomore
Keaghan Ward led off the second inning with a walk and came home with one out to give Wagner the lead. Next up, freshman
Kate Wolf's sacrifice fly doubled the Green and White's lead as it brought home freshman
Madi Silber.
After the Pioneers got on the board in the bottom half of the second, senior
Nora Conway re-established Wagner's two-run lead with an RBI single in the top of the fourth inning, which brought home senior
Natalie Del Ponte to make it 3-1.
Sacred Heart added a run in the fifth, but it wasn't enough, as the Seahawks hung on for the victory.
In the circle, sophomore
Scarlett Lloyd earned the complete game victory, striking out eight batters in the process.
Both teams had five hits each, as Conway provided a game-high three hits.

Wagner did not trail throughout the contest until Pioneers earned the walk-off win in extra innings.
An RBI single by junior
Bianca Worthy allowed Silber to come home in the top of the fourth and gave Wagner the lead.
After Sacred Heart tied the game in the bottom half of the inning, the Seahawks re-gained the lead on an RBI triple by senior
Makenzie Miller in the sixth.
Down to their final out, the Pioneers tied the game in the seventh, before earning the win in the eighth.
Senior
Eve Harvey was charged with the loss in the circle, striking out five while going the distance.
Miller and Worthy led the Seahawks with two hits apiece offensively.
Both teams will conclude the series tomorrow, with first pitch set for noon.
