Brookville, NY – The Wagner College softball game picked up a midweek doubleheader sweep against LIU, as the Seahawks earned a 4-1 victory in game one and 5-1 win in game two.
With the two wins, the Seahawks improve to 9-5 in Northeast Conference (NEC) action, while the Sharks fall to 6-8 in league play.
Game 1 Recap: Wagner 4-1 LIU
After the Sharks took a 1-0 lead in the bottom of the second, Wagner tied the game in the third inning on an RBI single by senior
Nora Conway, which brought home senior
Makenzie Miller.
The Seahawks took a 2-1 lead in the fifth on an RBI single by senior
Penelope Russ, which plated Conway to give Wagner the advantage.
In the sixth, an error by the Sharks brought home another run for Wagner, before senior
Natalie Del Ponte added another insurance run with an RBI double to left center field to make it 4-1.

Eve Harvey picked up the victory after going the distance, striking out four Sharks to earn her 10
thwin of the season.
The Seahawks held a 9-5 advantage in hits, as Conway, Del Ponte, and sophomore
Keaghan Ward all had multi-hit games.
Game 2 Recap: Wagner 5-1 LIU
The Seahawks started fast in game two, as base hits by Del Ponte and Russ set up senior
Mackenzie Vogler, who hit a three-run home run to give Wagner a 3-0 lead five batters into the game.
LIU scored its lone run of the game in the bottom half of the third, before Wagner added a run on an RBI single by Russ. In the seventh, the Seahawks tacked on another run, as a wild pitch allowed Del Ponte to come home and make it 5-1 in favor of the Green and White.
Russ led the Seahawks with three hits in game two, with Conway and Vogler also recording multi-hit games, as Wagner combined for 10 hits throughout the contest.

Scarlett Lloyd earned the complete game victory, striking out four batters in the process.
Both teams conclude their three-game series tomorrow with a single game, starting at 3:00 pm.
