Women's Tennis Drops Friday's Non-Conference Match At Stony Brook

Stony Brook, NY - The Wagner women's tennis team was defeated by America East members, Stony Brook, 6-1, on Friday afternoon at the University Courts on the campus of the Seawolves. 

Wagner falls to 4-8 on the season while Stony Brook, who earned their first home win of the year, moved to 4-7. 

The Seawolves earned a 6-1 victory at No. 2 doubles as the pairing of Kristine Theys and Chandrika Joshi got past Samantha Lugtu and Paula Ysabelle UY.  Stony Brook won by default at No. 3 doubles with No. 1 play, consisting of Tara Dakic and Gabrielle Perraudin going against Mathilde Sreeves and Loretta Villalba-Rubio going unfinished at 4-4. 

Perrauduin grabbed the lone victory for the Seahawks on the afternoon, outlasting Sreeves at No. 1, 6-3, 4-6, 6-3. 

Uy was in a back and forth tilt with Carmen Rubio at No. 4 singles. After securing a 6-4 win in the first set, Rubio came back with a 6-3 winner before edging out UY, 10-6, in the third set for the win. 

Wagner gets set to host Senior Day on Saturday afternoon as they will recognize the 2022 Senior Class of Samantha Lugtu, Fidan Khalilzade and Alegra d'Alessandro before taking on the Saint Francis U Red Flash.
