Staten Island, NY – The Wagner women's water polo team celebrated senior day with a victory over Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) foe Iona, 19-10, at the Spiro Sports Center on Sunday afternoon.
The victory extended the team's winning streak to 12 games and continues the second winning streak of the season over 10 games. This is the first time in program history the Seahawks have had multiple winning streaks of over 10 wins in a row in a single season.
With 29 wins so far this season, Wagner is one victory away from tying the program record of 30 wins that was set back in 2019 when Wagner went on to win its sixth consecutive MAAC championship.

For the second consecutive weekend, the Seahawks and Gaels squared off. Last weekend, Wagner defeated Iona, 17-6 in New Rochelle. This time, the Seahawks welcomed the Gaels as the contest began with junior
Skye Nankervis winning her first of four sprints in the contest. Iona outscored Wagner 3-1 in the opening frame as sophomore
Andrea Arias tallied the lone goal for Wagner.
The Green & White put a stamp on the contest in the second stanza as they outscored the Gaels 7-1.

With an 8-4 lead entering the second half, Wagner continued its momentum while outscoring Iona 5-1 in the third frame.

Skye Nankervis tallied one goal each to extend the Wagner lead to 13-5 heading into the final frame.
Wagner outscored Iona 6-5 in a high scoring fourth quarter, highlighted by two goals from Simshauser,
Malia Josephson, and senior
Pip Nash.
Abbey Simshauser led the Seahawk attack with six goals and one assist while
Andrea Arias tallied five goals.
Malia Josephson chipped in four goals in five assists while drawing three exclusions. Senior
Sofia Diaz Alvarez dished out six assists to go along with five steals. Senior goalkeeper
Kristina Bell stopped 10 shots in the win.
The Seahawks will wrap up the regular season next weekend on Friday, April 15 against LIU and St. Francis Brooklyn before ending the regular season at Marist on Saturday, April 16.
