Hempstead, NY – The Wagner women's lacrosse team fell to Hofstra, 13-6, on Tuesday afternoon.
The Pride put a stamp on the contest as they outscored the Seahawks 4-0 in the opening frame as graduate student Katie Whelan tallied two goals for Hofstra.
After Hofstra opened the scoring in the second stanza, senior and reigning NEC Co-Player of the Week
Kasey Dorney tallied her first of two goals to get Wagner on the board. The Pride finished the first half on a 2-0 run to take a 7-1 lead into the intermission.
The Seahawks outscored the Pride 5-2 in the third quarter to get back in the contest as Dorney tallied her second goal of the day. Junior
Emily Wesoky scored her first goal of the season and finished the quarter with two goals on the day. Graduate student
Victoria Tucci tallied her sixth goal of the season to bring the score to 9-6 with 42 seconds remaining in the third quarter.
Tucci's goal would be the last the Seahawks would score in the contest as the Pride launched a 4-0 run in the final stanza to preserve the victory.

Kasey Dorney tallied two goals on five shots along with three draw controls and two ground balls.
Victoria Tucci tallied one goal on three shots while dishing out one assist, classmate
Madeline Seims dished out one assist to go along with one ground ball, one draw control, and one caused turnover.
As a team, the Green & White had 22 shots with 15 reaching the net and accumulated nine draw controls. Wagner scooped 22 ground balls while Hofstra tallied just 15 in the contest.
Wagner will return home to welcome Colgate to Hameline Field on Saturday, March 12 at 2:00 P.M.
