Men's Tennis Downed By Merrimack, 5-2, On Sunday Evening

Staten Island, NY - The Wagner College men's tennis team dropped its Northeast Conference (NEC) match with Merrimack, 5-2, on Sunday evening at the CSI Tennis Courts on Staten Island. 

With the loss, the Seahawks fall to 1-8 on the season and 0-2 in league play while the Warriors move to 4-4 overall and 3-1 in conference action. 

The Seahawks were in all three doubles matches as the pairing of Tejasvi Mehra and Omar Loutfy earned a 6-4 win over Jonathan Garcia and Aryaan Bhatia at No. 1 doubles. 

Merrimack secured the doubles point after edging out a 6-4 win at No. 2 doubles and followed that up with a 6-3 triumph at No. 3. 

Odeda Arazza and Loutfy picked up singles victories for the Green & White. At No. 3 singles, Arazza was able get past Henrik Lindeman, 6-1; 6-3 while Loutfy needed the third set to defeat Charles Robertson (6-3; 3-6; 6-4). 

The Seahawks are back in action on Saturday when they take on St. Francis Brooklyn in a second straight NEC match from the CSI Tennis Courts.
